30 St. Mary Axe, also known as The Gherkin in the square mile area of The City of London, is one of my favorite buildings in London.

Depending on the time of day or night, or whether it's sunny or cloudy, the angle of the photos, the large glass panels (approximately 5,500 panels!) can project a range of different colors to the observer.

At times the glass panels appear more grey, at other times more blue, whereas when this photo was taken at night it shows more green and gold and reminds of a large glass jewel.
